Shore Insulation uses blown-in cellulose insulation composed of at least 85 percent recycled fibers. Unlike traditional insulation, it is not manufactured with any formaldehyde, asbestos, mineral fiber, or fiberglass. The density of Cellulose insulation gives it a high R-value per inch, which it maintains even under extreme conditions. The insulation also achieves such great overall energy efficiency because it is blown into tiny cavities and also surrounds plumbing pipes and electrical wiring. Thus, it seals gaps where energy can escape and reduces any air infiltration.
Cellulose insulation is also a class 1 fire-rated building material, treated with fire retardants that exceed the test requirements set by the Consumer Product Safety Commission standard. Because the density of cellulose is two to three times greater than conventional insulation products, fire does not spread as readily into cellulose-insulated walls or ceilings, thus restricting the amount of oxygen available to support combustion.
The same density in cellulose insulation that protects you from fire, absorbs nuisance noise from room-to-room and from outside your building. When walls in new or existing construction are insulated with Cellulose, voids and gaps that are convenient avenues for sound travel are eliminated, thus suppressing sound transmission. Cellulose is simply the best insulation for retrofitting historical and Victorian style structures as it lends itself to the filling of odd shaped cavities and provides superior sound and air infiltration control.

Cellulose Insulation contains a high concentration of Borates. Borates are a natural fungicide, pesticide and mold inhibitor, as well as an excellent fire retardant.
